ITALIAN PIERI GLISENTI BREECHLOADING TRIAL CARBINE: In very good general condition. 10mm caliber. 38 ¾ inch overall length. Thumb trigger action. Excellent metal retaining just about all of what appears to be an arsenal refinish. No markings. Fine stock with light handling marks. Excellent bore with excellent rifling. Defective action as the bolt does not seem to cock the firing pin. An extremely rare and desirable Italian trial gun! (Pieri system carbine: produced in a very small quantity by the maker Glisenti in Brescia and presented at the competition of the Royal Army to substitute the Carcano model 1867. The rifle was distributed for evaluation in a few dozen examples together with other Italian and foreign models in 1870. The competition was won by Vetterli with the single shot version. (Bibliography: “Dal Carcano al Fal”, by Emanuele Marcianò and Marco Morin, edited by Olimpia, 1974)). $3000
